چکیده

We present a microscopic study of halo nuclei, starting from the Paris and Bonn potentials and employing a two-frequency shell model approach. It is found that the core-polarization effect is dramatically suppressed in such nu-clei. Consequently the effective interaction for halo nucleons is almost entirely given by the bare G-matrix alone, which presently can be evaluated with a high degree of accuracy. The experimental pairing energies between the two halo neutrons in 6 He and 11 Li nuclei are satisfactorily reproduced by our calculation. It is suggested that the fundamental nucleon-nucleon interaction can be probed in a clearer and more direct way in halo nuclei than in ordinary nuclei.

The effect of core polarization in halo nuclei is studied using a two-frequency shell-model approach: ¯ hω in for the inner orbits and ¯ hω out for the outer (halo) orbits. Starting from the Paris and Bonn NN potentials, accurate model-space G-matrix is first derived. The core-polarization diagrams G 3p1h are then evaluated as a function of ¯ hω out , with ¯ hω in held fixed. We find that they ...

E2 properties of A = 6–10 nuclei, including those of nuclei far from stability, are studied by a (0 + 2)¯ hω shell-model calculation which includes E2 core-polarization effects explicitly. The quadrupole moments and the E2 transition strengths in A = 6–10 nuclei are described quite well by the present calculation. This result indicates that the relatively large value of the quadrupole moment of...

The structure of nuclei far off β-stability is investigated by nuclear many-body theory. In-medium interactions for asymmetric nuclear matter are obtained by (Dirac-) Brueckner theory thus establishing the link of nuclear forces to free space interactions. HFB and RPA theory is used to describe ground and excited states of nuclei from light to heavy masses. In extreme dripline systems pairing a...

Data for the scattering of 6 He, 8 He, 9 Li, and 11 Li from hydrogen are analyzed within a fully microscopic folding model of proton-nucleus scattering. Current data suggest that of these only 11 Li has a noticeable halo. The available data for the 6 Li(γ, π +) 6 He gs reaction support the conclusion that 6 He does not.

Deformation properties of weakly bound nuclei are discussed in the deformed single-particle model. It is demonstrated that in the limit of a very small binding energy the valence particles in specific orbitals, characterized by a very small projection of single-particle angular momentum onto the symmetry axis of a nucleus, can give rise to the halo structure which is completely decoupled from t...
